ABOUT THIS EVENT
We welcomed the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to the Damilola Taylor Youth Centre in Peckham to mark London’s lowest homicide rate in decades and highlight the role that local partnerships play in keeping communities safe.
The visit brought together local leaders, community organisations and youth workers to recognise the impact of investment in prevention and early intervention. We heard about the work being delivered by organisations including Mentivity, St Giles Trust, Active Communities Network and Millwall in the Community, which support young people and help create positive pathways for the future. The visit reinforced the importance of strong community partnerships, youth provision and neighbourhood safety initiatives in building a safer Southwark for everyone.
