I’m honoured to take on my new role as Secretary of State for Net Zero.

My first priority and commitment will always remain with the people of Peckham. I am proud to represent my community, and nothing will change that. I will continue to make sure the voices, concerns and ambitions of my constituents are heard at the heart of my work.

This new role is a huge opportunity to deliver on issues that matter to people across the country. My priorities as Secretary of State will be driving forward clean, home-grown energy and tackling affordability, so that families and communities can benefit from a cleaner, more secure and more affordable energy system.

The transition to net zero is not just about meeting our climate commitments. It is about making our country more energy secure, cutting bills, creating good jobs and investing in communities across the UK.

I’m excited to take on this responsibility and to work with colleagues, businesses and communities to deliver the change we need. I will bring the same determination and commitment to this role that I have always brought to representing Peckham — while ensuring that my constituents remain my first and foremost responsibility.A New Role, A Continued Commitment to Peckham
